”The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me, To preach the gospel to the poor” – Luke 4:18 (NKJV)
Jesus’ ministry mirrored the environment surrounding His birth. There are many accounts relating to Him healing the sick and the broken-hearted, giving freedom to the oppressed, depressed and those who were captives of the enemy. He preached the Good News of God’s plan of salvation and many were touched and delivered.
In Luke 9:10-16, we read a multitude had followed Jesus and listened to Him preach until late in the day. His disciples thought it best to send the people away at twilight. Amazingly Jesus said to them, “You give them something to eat.” – verse 13. Today, as we read these words, I encourage us to appropriate them to our lives. Hear Jesus saying to us, ‘Give them something to eat.’ Let us follow Him and preach the Gospel to the poor. The Word of God is food for the soul. We must tell everyone that Christ is the centre of Christmas. He came with purpose attached to His life – Matthew 1:21 (NKJV) and He fulfilled that purpose. We also can fulfil ours with His guidance.
Luke 9:16 (NKJV) says, “Then He took the five loaves and two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude.” In this same manner God’s Word is blessed and as His disciples, we have been commissioned to share the Good News. Let us go and tell it on the mountain and everywhere we go so that all might be saved. All must come unto salvation – 2 Peter 3:9.

Prayer
Lord, You truly came to show us the way back to God, and to help us do the same for others. We will be obedient to Your your voice. Your life on earth was a perfect example of how we must live so that the will of God would be manifested on earth.
Lord, let us take You everywhere, every day, to everyone for we know we’re surrounded by You. Thank You for the resources You have given us for we will use them to bless others. This we pray, in Jesus’s name. Amen.
